How to write a nurture sequence that sells without being pushy

A nurture sequence is a short series of emails that builds trust while you're busy. Here's how to make it warm, useful and quietly effective.

When someone joins your email list, they're curious but not ready to buy. A nurture sequence is a handful of automated emails that help them get to know you, see that you can help, and feel comfortable taking the next step.

Give far more than you ask

A good rule of thumb is to give useful value in most emails and only invite a sale in a few. Share a story, teach something practical, answer a common question. When you do make an offer, it feels like a natural next step rather than a pitch.

A simple shape that works

  • Welcome and deliver what they signed up for
  • Share your story and why you do this work
  • Teach one practical thing they can use today
  • Show a real client result and what changed
  • Answer the questions people usually ask before buying
  • Invite them to book a call or join, clearly and kindly

Write like you talk

The best nurture emails sound like a note from a friend who happens to be an expert. Short paragraphs, one idea per email and a clear reason to read the next one.

Set it up once, let it work every day

Once your sequence is written and connected to your freebie, every new subscriber gets the same thoughtful welcome, whether you are on a client call, on holiday or asleep.

Try this

Start with three emails, not twelve. You can always add more once you see what your readers respond to.
